Frequently asked questions
Flashbulb Games is an independent game studio owned and operated by its founders and employees.
Flashbulb Games was founded in 2016 by Rune Dittmer, Mikkel Thorsted, Lasse Outzen, and Ole Teglbjærg. Before that they had built Press Play (which was acquired by Microsoft in 2012). When Press Play closed in 2016, they founded Flashbulb Games and brought an expert team of developers with the ambition to make the world's best building game.
That is still the ambition.
In 2021 Flashbulb was acquired by Nordisk Games and in September 2025 the founders bought back the studio.
No, both Rubber Bandits and Trailmakers are paid games. That is how we make money to pay the developers to keep making more content.
Both games also offers paid extra content, for those players who want more content.
That said, the games are complete games and there is no need to buy more if your wallet doesn't allow it.
We specialize in creative sandbox experiences, physics-based gameplay, multiplayer fun, and systems that allow players to build, experiment, and create their own stories. See more on the frontpage.
